Barra Lodge Boats and Beaches

 

Launch procedures at Barra:
Guests will be required to purchase a license from the local Maritime Police before they can launch – this can be arranged at reception for Barra/Flamingo guests on arrival

 

A 4x4 is required for launching – Barra is unable to offer launch assistance

 

There is a  demarcated launch site

 

No vehicles are allowed on beach other than to launch

 

A valid skipper’s ticket is required

 

All documentation for the vessel must be available for inspection if necessary as well as a valid skippers license

 

Barra will gladly provide advice on fishing and diving in the area

 

No fishing equipment is available for hire

 

Keep the safety of the people on the beach in mind

 

Do not buy shells from the locals

 

LAUNCHING PERMITS

 

The law in Mozambique requires permits for launching.

The permits are obtainable from Reception or Maritime offices in any major town.

Boat Launching:

Fiberglas Boat                                      -Met 505             per boat

Rubber Duck                                         -Met 363             per boat

Jet Ski                                                 -Met 200             per jet ski

Sailing Vessels                                      -Met 100             per vessel

Rowing Boat                                          -Met   75             per boat

Canoe/Kayak/Croca                              -Met   45             per vessel       

 

Activities:

Fishing                                                  Met 400 per person

Spear Fishing                                        Met 500 per person

Diving                                                   R250 per person

Snorkeling                                            R100 per person

 

All licences are valid for 30 days.

 

Fishing Etiquette:

Please note that we strive to protect our bottom dwelling fish ( ie: grouper, rockcod, guitarsharks ) and encourage fishermen to fish for the sport by targeting pelagic ( game fish) species. We do also encourage tag and release.
